DesignSafe Radio Taking Off

The DesignSafe Radio podcast is taking the hazard engineering world by storm, literally.

So far, producer and host Dan Zehner has published nearly a dozen podcasts, including popular special edition shows on Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

“We have a great lineup this fall,” Zehner says. “We’re talking to experts from around the country about natural hazards research. To date, we’ve had more than 700 downloads.” Zehner, a mechanical engineer, also is the NHERI-NCO scheduling and operations coordinator. He is based at Purdue University.

DesignSafe Radio has also featured NHERI REU students working at the UC San Diego and the Oregon State University experimental facilities.

This week’s show features forecasting and planning for coastal inundation, with the Naval Research Lab’s Cheryl Ann Blain and Purdue’s David Johnson — both NHERI researchers.

Keep up with the show on the DesignSafe-CI website and on Facebook.
