QuakeCoRE/NCREE Blind Prediction Competition

3-D and first storey plan view of test specimens

The QuakeCoRE center in New Zealand, in collaboration with the National Centre for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) in Taiwan and DesignSafe in the US, is excited to announce a competition to predict the response of reinforced concrete (RC) structures with torsional irregularities to earthquake shaking. Testing of two half-scale RC structures will be performed at NCREE Tainan in 2019, and participants are to submit their predictions by 15 August 2019. The Participant with the best predictions (in two categories) shall be awarded NZ$3,000 in travel funding (details are here). DesignSafe will be used for the eventual publication of the experimental data, and publication of the numerical models and prediction results. Expressions of interest are due by 5 pm on May 15, 2019 (New Zealand time).
