NHERI Graduate Student Council

2025 Mini-Conference

Updates

Thank you to over 90 participants who attended the 2025 NSF NHERI GSC Mini-Conference, those who presented natural hazard research, and those who participated in the 2025 NSF NHERI GSC Data Challenge. You made this a wonderful experience which we look forward to hosting again.

We thank Dr. Jamie Padgett from Rice University, Stanley C. Moore Professor in Engineering Chair, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for speaking at the 2025 NSF NHERI GSC Mini-Conference.

Program Information

The NHERI Graduate Student Council hosted its third annual NHERI GSC Mini-Conference. This year’s keynote speaker was Dr. Jamie Padgett who shared her presentation, "Opportunities and Lessons Learned when Modeling Resilience Across Scales and Hazards." This fully virtual one-day conference brought together natural hazards graduate researchers as they presented original research and collaborative research based on natural hazards data within NSF NHERI DesignSafe DataDepot. Accepted research demonstrated novel approaches to methods, empirical research, and research from a variety of including geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, sociologists, demographers, computer scientists, and other disciplines. NSF NHERI GSC Data Challenge participants also presented their findings after working in research groups over the spring semester.

We are happy to announce the winners of the 2025 NSF NHERI Data Challenge.
