2020 Joint NSF NHERI Wall of Wind
and SimCenter Users Workshop

Experimental and Computational Simulation of Wind Damage to Structures and Regions

AUGUST 10-11, 2020 | 9:00AM - 12:30PM PST

The FIU NHERI Wall of Wind (WOW) Experimental Facility (EF) and the NHERI SimCenter will be hosting an online two-day user workshop. The focus of the workshop is to:

  1. Provide researchers with information on the capabilities of the NHERI WOW EF and SimCenter for advanced wind hazard engineering research.
  2. Explore opportunities to use the WOW and SimCenter for unsolicited, CAREER, SBIR, and other types of NSF proposals -- one session will be dedicated to ā€œPreparing Competitive NSF Proposals (including CAREER Proposals).ā€
  3. Describe cross-disciplinary opportunities to leverage the use of SimCenter tools in wind engineering and to perform large- and full-scale experiments using the NHERI WOW EF.
  4. Provide a platform for collaboration to facilitate multi-disciplinary, multi-hazards research.
  5. Provide one-on-one sessions between NHERI team members (from WOW EF or SimCenter) and workshop participants to discuss ideas (including integrated computational-experimentation research plans) for NSF proposals.

This online workshop will provide participants with valuable information about the resources and services available at the NHERI WOW EF and the SimCenter, and how to better engage their capabilities for obtaining NSF funding for natural hazards mitigation research and other basic science research. We look forward to welcoming you to our upcoming workshop. Please register using the form on this page. You will then receive an email with the Zoom meeting details.

For the one-on-one sessions, please use the form link below to provide your time preferences. The deadline to fill out this form is August 3rd, 2020.
