DAY 1: Design and Execution of a Successful Test Program at the NHERI@UC San Diego Facility
DAY 2: Broadening Research Investigations with other NHERI Facilities
The NHERI Experimental Facility at UC San Diego is hosting a one and one-half day User Training Workshop on December 13th and 14th, 2018 on the UC San Diego main campus. The first day (December 13th) will offer formal presentations including: an overview of the facility, discussion of tools available through DesignSafe, two case studies of large-scale testing projects previously conducted at NHERI@UC San Diego, an overview of research planning, an overview of advances in hybrid simulation capabilities available at the site, a summary of payload opportunities, and finally conclude with highlighting education/outreach/training (EOT) activities and opportunities for users. A site visit will also be integrated into Day 1 and include demonstration of LiDAR tools available through the RAPID (University of Washington) facility. The second day of the workshop will include presentations by the NHERI@UC Davis, NHERI RAPID (University of Washington) and NHERI SimCenter, covering a wide range of complementary research capabilities supported by these facilities, which researchers can use. With the overarching objective to increase the user base of the facility, workshop attendees will be provided with the knowledge necessary to prepare research proposals utilizing the NHERI Experimental Facility at UC San Diego, including recommendations on how to plan and execute successful large-scale shake table projects, and a broader vision of utilizing other NHERI facilities to support their research agendas.
Interested attendees should complete the online registration form, and plan to be at UC San Diego from 8AM – 5PM on December 13th and 8AM – 12:30PM on December 14th. An informal dinner will be planned on December 13th and a poster session will conclude the workshop over lunch on December 14th. The suggested hotel near campus is:
