Description:

The data presented in herein consists of processed ground motion data from the KiKnet network in Japan along with a flatfile of site and event metadata. The raw ground motion data was downloaded from the KiKnet website in Japan. The metadata was obtained from the information in the KiKnet site as well as moment tensor solutions from the Fnet website in Japan and, when available, finite-fault source models from the literature. The processing of the ground motion data was performed with an automated algorithm that is described in detail in the accompanying paper. The ground motion data includes spectral accelerations for various oscillator periods, smoothed and down-sampled Fourier amplitude for various frequencies, as well as Arias Intensity and various duration measures. Intensity measures are computed both for surface and borehole records. Various distance measures are computed for each ground motion, including estimates of rupture distance for sufficiently large events, including those with finite-fault source models. The database includes site parameters for the recording sites (e.g., V S30 ) based on shear wave velocity profiles provided by KiKnet. The database includes a flatfile in *.csv format. To access subsets of the data through user-defined queries we have built a jupyter interface (interface.ipynb). Note that the project folder is read-only, hence the interface file must be copied to the user directory. Precise instructions for doing so are included in the readme file.
