UPDATE 2023 ( Idalia and Ophelia)
This project provides storm surge, wind, and wave model results for 64 named tropical storms and hurricanes that impacted the U.S. Northern Gulf and Atlantic from 2003 to 2023. This updated version includes two additional storms from 2023 enhancing our dataset and model coverage.
The project utilized the ADCIRC Surge Guidance System framework and wind data from the National Hurricane Center to generate hindcast model output from ADCIRC and SWAN. The model output files are in the NetCDF file format and include water levels, wind, and significant wave height information. Interactive maps, GIS, and track data are available at the Coastal Emergency Risk Assessment Best Tracks - Historical Storms website. More information for each storm can be explored at https://historicalstorms.coastalrisk.live.
Data is free for research and federal/state agencies. Commercial use requires a license agreement, please contact us for more info.

Description:
The coupled ADCIRC-SWAN model was run using best-track data from the National Hurricane Center for a suite of 64 historical storms. The storms made landfall on the U.S. Northern Gulf and Atlantic Coasts. Output consists of storm surge, wave, and wind data in NetCDF format.
